Municipal Process

Update

On August 25th, 2009, Montréal City Council approved the zoning amendment and development accord authorizing the Les Bassins du Nouveau Havre project. This represents an important step forward for Les Bassins du Nouveau Havre.

Municipal Process

The preliminary plan proposed for Les Bassins du Nouveau Havre by CLC requires urban plan and zoning amendments to permit residential and commercial uses. The redevelopment plan submitted to the Borough must be reviewed and approved by the appropriate municipal authorities.

Review and approval of amendments follows the steps outlined under Section 89 of the Charter of the City of Montréal:

  1. Analysis of the preliminary official plan by municipal authorities;
  2. Drafting a zoning amendment;
  3. Reading and approval of the zoning amendment by the Municipal Council;
  4. Public consultation by the Office de consultation publique de Montréal, (OCPM)
  5. Report on OCPM recommendations submitted to the Municipal Council;
  6. Second reading of the zoning amendment and final approval.

Once the new zoning is approved, the applications for construction permits are sent to the Sud-Ouest Borough. The Comité consultatif d’urbanisme de cet arrondissement (CCU) analyzes the compliance of the projects and sends its recommendations to Borough Council, which authorizes the issuing of construction permits
